How do I find the message board?

To access the message board:

1. Click Your courses in the left navigation pane.
2. If you're not logged in, you will be prompted to provide your e-mail address and password to log into the site.
3. Click the title of the course for the Message Board you want to access.
4. On the Course Overview page, click Message Board.

How do I read my messages? How do I reply?

To read a particular message, click the message topic. A new page opens that shows the full text of the message, as well as all related replies. From this page, you have the option to write a reply or return to the main Message Board.

1. To reply to a message, click Post Reply and type your reply in the Message box.
2. Once you have completed your message, click Preview to review your message before posting.
3. If your message looks correct, click Post. To cancel your message, click Cancel.

How do I post a new question to the message board?

1. To post a question to the board, click Post New Topic and type your message in the Message box.
2. Once you have completed your message, click Preview to review your message before posting.
3. If your message looks correct, click Post. To cancel your message, click Cancel.

How was I assigned the name that appears in the Author column when I post a message?

The name that appears in the Author column when you post a message is your message board alias. By default, your message board alias is the first letter of your first name followed by your last name (as entered when you created your profile). You can change your message board alias at any time. To do so:

1. Click Your profile in the left navigation pane.
2. Click Change your message board alias.
3. Follow the instructions on the page to make the change.

How long will it take for the instructor to answer my question?

Our instructors review the Message Board at least every other day from date of enrollment so you should receive a response within that timeframe after posting your question. However, if other students have already answered your question correctly, the instructor may pass your question without giving an additional response.

How will I know when someone has responded to my question?

When someone responds to your message, a red dot will appear next to your topic on the main message board page. Click on the topic to review the full text of your original message and the response.
